PIONEERING activities launched the Ely Scheme Year 9 Stages for the new academic year.

All Year 9 students at King’s Ely Senior follow a regular programme on Thursdays called Ely Scheme Stages. The scheme allows students to participate and learn more about various different outdoor activities throughout the year, whilst also learning about teamwork and problem solving.

Activities this term will include climbing, kayaking, first aid, assault courses and more.

Assistant Director of Outdoor Education at King’s Ely, Martin Bray, said: “The Year 9 students are led through their activities by our Senior Pupil Instructors who facilitate all aspects of the programme and learn to develop both their hard and soft skills within outdoor education. Thank you to the staff team who are on hand to oversee the programme and support the students in their endeavours.”

From the high peaks of the Andes and Himalayas to the gushing torrents of the rivers in the Alps, Ely Scheme offers boundless opportunities for pupils to explore and learn through outdoor education. Outdoor education at King’s Ely offers students the chance to learn self-reliance, teamwork, creative thinking and a determined attitude to all tasks in life.
