A Level Psychology

Cross-curricular in nature, Psychology combines both Humanities and Science in an exciting way.

The study of Psychology at university is now one of the most oversubscribed courses: career opportunities for those with good degrees are numerous.

A-level Psychology is the study of the mind and behaviour. You’ll explore different approaches – biological, cognitive, behavioural, humanistic and psychodynamic – and apply them to key topics like memory, attachment, social influence, aggression, gender, schizophrenia, and mental health. You’ll also learn how psychologists conduct research, analyse data, and tackle big debates such as nature vs nurture and free will vs determinism. Along the way, you’ll develop practical skills in applying theory to real life, evaluating evidence, and understanding the strengths, limitations, and real-world relevance of psychological explanations.

At King’s studying Psychology goes beyond just the studying the subject. Students come together across classes and year groups as a department. Lessons are highly engaging and interactive using the lessonup platform, and excellence is encouraged through purposeful practice using the formative platform. Content is enriched through the highly successful lecture series, a wide-ranging programme with speakers from all over the globe. Students also come together for Psychology themed movie nights, participate in research through Royal Holloway University and enjoy the award-winning Goliath Virtual Reality Schizophrenia Program.
