We are elated that King's Ely Prep's exceptional performance of 'Goodnight Mister Tom' has been crowned 'Best Prep School Production' in the 2025 National School Theatre Awards! 

Our super-talented cast and backstage crew of Years 7 and 8 pupils staged their adaptation of the heart-warming tale in the Hayward Theatre in February. The show was directed by our Head of Drama at Prep, Miss Emily Chadwick, with Miss Sophie Kohl as assistant director.

The glitzy awards ceremony took place at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London's West End on June 23rd. Miss Chadwick and Miss Kohl attended the event, and were over the moon to receive the trophy on everyone's behalf! 

Miss Chadwick said: "The National School Theatre Awards recognise talent from across the UK and champion the arts in schools. The atmosphere was electric with so many nominated schools in attendance, and we were over the moon that 'Goodnight Mister Tom' was nominated, let alone won the award for 'Best Prep School Production'.

"I would like to thank the amazing King's Ely Drama Team who helped make everything run smoothly, specifically Miss Kohl as assistant director and Mr Lane for all his technical expertise. We are only able to run productions of this standard because of the support of our Leadership Team, and we are thankful for their understanding of the importance of Drama and Theatre. Last but by no means least, the people who the production would not be possible without... Our wonderful students! This was an incredibly talented cast who gave the production their everything, and it paid off. I am so proud of everyone involved!"
