We have some very exciting news to report from our Drama Department!

King's Ely Prep's outstanding production of 'Goodnight Mister Tom' is in the running to win a 2025 National School Theatre Award. The show, which was directed by our Head of Drama at Prep, Miss Emily Chadwick, with support from Miss Sophie Kohl, has been nominated for 'Best Prep School Production'.

Our super-talented cast and backstage crew of Years 7 and 8 pupils staged their adaptation of the heart-warming tale in the Hayward Theatre in February. 

Miss Chadwick said: "A few weeks into rehearsals for Goodnight Mister Tom, I told the cast that I had a feeling this show could be something really special! The performers worked incredibly hard to master complex skills, such as West Country and Cockney accents, the puppeteers to work with our amazing sheepdog Sammy, and the crew tackled some challenging lighting, sound, and scene change sequences. I am incredibly proud of everyone involved, and to have nominated the show for Best Prep School Production at the National School Theatre Awards. The comments from the judge, who attended one of the performances, highlights the amazingly high standard of the show. We are looking forward to attending the awards ceremony on June 23rd, and wish the best of luck to everyone else nominated too!"
