YEAR 6 King’s Ely Junior pupils enjoyed a History Trip to West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village in Suffolk on May 20th as part of their studies on Anglo-Saxon England.

Head of History at King’s Ely Junior, Edward Davis, said: “After arriving, we all went for a tour of the museum. There were clothes and a helmet to try on, as well as exhibits of artefacts found at West Stow and a number of other locations. The pupils did an activity where they had to piece together the story of an artefact and what we can deduce from it.

“After a packed lunch, the two groups visited the reconstructed Anglo-Saxon village. They went inside the various buildings and saw what life was like for the early Anglo-Saxons. We then gathered in the communal hall, where the villagers would have met, to discuss what the pupils had learnt. They had many good questions and clearly had learnt a lot from the day!”
