We are so lucky to have Ely Cathedral on our doorstep. The ‘Ship of the Fens’ not only serves as our school chapel and makes the perfect setting for concerts and services, but it also comes in rather handy for History lessons too!

Yesterday (February 22nd), our Year 5 King’s Ely Junior pupils enjoyed a fantastic workshop with members of the Cathedral’s Education Team, as part of their current topic – Local History.

Story telling, costumes, props and freeze frame action were used to teach the children about the pilgrimages that were undertaken to the Shrines of St Edmund, Wendreda and Etheldreda, and about the life of St Etheldreda, who first established a monastery in Ely 1,350 years ago.

What happens in the classroom is only ever part of the story at a school as busy as King’s. We have a uniquely creative and dynamic approach to education, and we strive to extend and enrich our students’ school experience at every opportunity. There are so many trips, visits and opportunities, all of which instil a genuine, lifelong love of learning.

Thank you Cathedral Education Team – everyone had so much fun!
