YEAR 1 pupils at King’s Ely Acremont have been learning all about the story of ‘The Enormous Turnip’ by using the Talk for Writing process. They then innovated the text by changing the vegetables and characters!

The children created their own story maps and learned these by heart, videoing themselves re-telling their stories as homework. They then worked really hard to write their stories onto their fruit and vegetable shapes before turning them into zig-zag books.

Pictured are Mrs Axten Higgs’ class with their zig-zag books! Mrs Axten Higgs said: “The children are extremely proud that they are published authors of their own story books! They have had so much fun sharing them with each other.”
