IF there could be just one event to showcase what a fun, team-spirited school King’s Ely is it would have to be our annual House Song competition!

Singer, composer and choral leader Joanna Forbes L’Estrange adjudicated this year’s amazing competition, which took place in a packed Hayward Theatre on October 17th.

It was a tough call but in the end, the ‘Walsingham Cup for Ensemble’ went to Wilkinson, and the ‘Laird Cup for Unison’ was awarded to Withburga. The overall winners of the Amhurst Cup were Withburga!

Congratulations to every single person involved – not just those who performed but also those involved in the organisation of the event, the staging, lighting, audio etc – what a team effort!

Director of Music Performance at King’s Ely, Neil Porter-Thaw, said: “I have to say House Music is one of my most favourite times of the year as it involves every student in the Senior school, and this year’s show was the best I have witnessed. The music making was outstanding but more importantly, there was a huge sense of support amongst the student body whatever House they were representing. Presentation, choreography and singing were all outstanding and the school should be proud of their efforts. A particular thank you to Joanna Forbes L’Estrange who was an excellent judge.”
