WEST End musical theatre performer, Nikki Dyer, popped into school on September 11th to host our first Senior Theatre Masterclass of the new term.

Arts Award Coordinator and Drama Teacher at King’s Ely, Laura Dixon, said: “The evening focused on acting through song in musical theatre. Students were challenged to analyse a number of musical theatre numbers and find the meaning and truth in the lyrics.

“They performed a range of songs to their peers in the form of dramatic readings and everyone enjoyed some tongue-twisting vocal warm-ups. The evening culminated with a variety of Year 9-13 students performing musical theatre songs they had prepared themselves and Nikki provided excellent constructive feedback. A great evening was had by all.”

Our Theatre Masterclasses are open to all Senior students and the next one will be ‘Improvisation’ on 25th September, followed by ‘Devising: Paper Birds’ on 9th October!
