CONGRATULATIONS to Year 9 King’s Ely Senior students John Lau and James MacGillivray for their success in the follow-on round of the Junior Maths Challenge!
James and John were top scorers in the first round of the competition, which saw them winning Gold certificates. This in itself is a brilliant achievement as only the top 6% of pupils from across the UK who entered achieved Gold.
From the original entrants, about 1,200 students are invited to take part in the follow-on round – the Junior Mathematical Olympiad papers. James and John both sat the Olympiad papers at the end of the Summer term.
The Maths-loving duo have just discovered they achieved Bronze medals in the Olympiad, meaning they were in the top 25% of students who competed.
