IT was wonderful to welcome Molly Hindle, Regional Fundraising Officer at Alzheimer’s Research UK, into school this morning (January 21st).

Old Elean, Eleanor Wallace, presented Molly with a cheque for £229, which we raised through the sale of our ‘2021 Student Academic Journal’.

The journal – a series of essays to celebrate the academic achievements of some of our Senior students – was launched and edited by Eleanor, and then sold to members of our school community, priced at £3 a copy.

Students’ essays inside the journal cover everything from geopolitics to prime numbers, and the publication was described in our recent ISI inspection report as “an excellent read”.

Eleanor and her team chose for the money raised through the sale of the journal to go to Alzheimer’s Research UK, and she was joined by Colin Currie, Head of History at King’s Ely Senior, and Senior students, Eleanor, Aoife and Anna, whose essays all feature in the publication, to present Molly with the donation after this morning’s Ely Cathedral Service.

Thank you to everyone who purchased a copy of the journal!
