A STRAWBERRY Tea Party held at King’s Ely just before the end of term raised almost £200 for the school’s chosen charity of the year.

Students and staff of Hill House organised the event on July 4th in aid of the Uganda Marathon charity, which King’s Ely has been supporting throughout the last academic year.

The event was well attended, resulting in an impressive £187 being raised, taking the school’s total for the charity so far to more than £17,000.

Despite huge progress towards the Millennium Development Goals, Uganda has suffered hugely from conflict. Around 6.7 million Ugandans still live in poverty and a further 14.7 million are vulnerable. Access to health and education remains inconsistent with life expectancy at 54 years.
