TALENTED thespians at King’s Ely Junior wowed audiences with their sell-out production of family favourite musical CATS.

Hundreds of people flocked to the all singing and all dancing Andrew Lloyd Webber production at King’s Ely’s Hayward Theatre on March 24th and 25th. Forty King’s Ely Junior pupils in Years 5 to 8 starred in the show after auditioning in September last year.

The production was directed by Kathryn Sudbury with musical direction by Neil Porter-Thaw and choreography by Natasha Hobbs. All three performances were sell-outs.

Director of Drama and Theatre at King’s Ely, Nick Huntington, was overwhelmed with the show’s success. He commented: CATS was choreographically and musically the most challenging production that King’s Ely Junior has ever attempted, and yet three sell-out performances, each with a spontaneous standing ovation, were testament to the commitment, energy and talent that each of the 40 cast members displayed on stage. The already high standard of drama at King’s Ely continues to grow, and I am immensely grateful and proud of our whole team who go above and beyond to ensure that every pupil is given the opportunity to shine.”
