Sam will be studying Sport and Exercise Sciences at Durham University after achieving the A-Level grades he needed.
Sam joined King's Ely Prep in Year 4. He studied Physical Education, Biology, and Geography at A-Level, and completed a Level 3 Certificate in Core Maths.
Sam is taking a gap year before starting University in 2026. He plans to travel to South America with a Christian missionary organisation called Latin Link.
When asked what he plans to do career wise, Sam said: "I would like to pursue a career in a professional sport club as a Sports Scientist."
To describe King's in three words, Sam chose "historic, vibrant, supportive".
When asked about the teaching and learning environment at King's, Sam said: "The teachers were all professional, approachable, and passionate about their subjects. They were always willing to provide extra support and advice, which definitely helped me to progress and achieve the grades that I did. I had a very positive working relationship with all teachers and staff members at King's."
Sam was heavily involved in Sport at King's, and he was appointed a School Prefect and Head of Osmond House.
Sam said: "During my time at King's, I tried to get involved with all of the opportunities at hand, mainly in Sport. I was a member of the 1st Team for all three main Sports - Rugby, Football, and Cricket - from Year 11 through to Year 13. A highlight was the Rugby National Bowl Final in my final year of school, and being the 1st XI Football Captain.
"During Sixth Form, I was Head of Osmond House and a School Prefect, roles which have really helped to develop my leadership skills. My highlights of being Head of House for Osmond were winning House Song and helping to run OsFest, which is definitely the school's best charity event! My highlights of being a School Prefect were being a positive role model to pupils in the school, and also being able to give back to the school community which has given me so much over the years."
When asked what he thinks makes King's a unique place to study, Sam said: "King's provides so many wonderful opportunities and supports individuals to explore and try new things. The school really supports and pushes students to excel at a high level, whether that be in Academics, Sport, Drama, Music, etc."
Describing what he will miss most about King's, Sam said: "I will miss all of the Sports fixtures at King's and seeing my mates every day. My most enjoyable moments were playing Rugby and Football with them over the years, both at break times and on the pitch."
Congratulations Sam - enjoy your gap year and keep in touch!
