Emily achieved the A-Level grades that she needed to study Architecture at the Glasgow School of Art.

Emily joined King's Ely Prep in Year 7 from her local village primary school.

She studied Fine Art, Maths, and Psychology for her A-Levels. Emily also completed an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), titled: 'Constructing a piece of biomimetic architecture drawing on sustainability’.

We caught up with Emily after she received her A-Level results to find out more about her King's experience and what her next steps are...

Emily, what career path do you plan on pursuing?

Architecture – hopefully something in sustainability.

What is the quality and style of teaching like at King’s?

All of my teachers were incredibly helpful and I would not have been able to get through my A-Levels without them. Mrs Halls was always there to listen and give advice, and Mr Ward was so amazing throughout my art coursework. Ms Bezzina and Mr Jackson were also fantastic in supporting me in Maths.

What else did you participate in during your time at King’s?

The Sixth Form Kenya Trip was an amazing and eye-opening experience that I will never forget! I also participated in numerous Drama performances in Years 7-9, and singing lessons and performances, which were so much fun and helped me a lot with my confidence.

Do you feel that you have been well supported pastorally at King’s?

Yes, completely. If I was ever in a difficult spot and needed any help, whether it was school or non-school related, Mrs Halls, Mr Jackson, Mr Thistlethwaite, Mr Ward, and Miss Bungard were always there to offer advice or even just listen.

What will you miss most about King’s and what did you enjoy most during your time here?

I will definitely miss the King's community the most. Because our classes were small, all of the teachers knew each of us personally, which helped a lot with learning because they were able to help us individually. I really enjoyed the Art Department throughout my time at King's. They created an atmosphere which mixed friendly banter with focussed work. As a bonus the department also had two dogs, Bolty and Frank, which made taking breaks between classes so fun!

In what ways do you think King’s is unique or special compared to other schools?

I think the opportunities, such as the Kenya Trip and singing with the Chapel Choir at St Paul’s Cathedral, are completely unique opportunities that I would not have given up for the world.
