Ruby will be studying History and International Relations at Oxford Brookes University after achieving the A-Level grades she needed.
Ruby joined King's Ely Prep in Year 6. She studied History, Politics, and Classical Civilisation at A-Level.
When asked what she plans to do career wise, Ruby said: "My dream is to work in the UN, more specifically UNICEF, focusing on human rights or humanitarian aid work."
To describe King's in three words, Ruby chose "compassionate, understanding, approachable".
When asked what the teaching and learning environment at King's is like, Ruby said: "The teaching and support that I received at King’s was invaluable. In Prep School, Senior School and Sixth Form, I always felt encouraged and supported to achieve my goals, even when I was not particularly performing well academically. My teachers understood my strengths and challenges, and my form tutor in particular, reassured me in the lead up to exams that success is not defined only by the highest grades. This reflects the culture at King’s: a school that prioritises the individual and fosters genuine support."
Ruby was appointed a Sports Scholar in Sixth Form, which she says was a highlight of her eight years at King's.
She said: "I took part in a wide range of Sports at King's, including Netball, Cross Country, and Hockey. Becoming a Sports Scholar and playing in the 1st XI Hockey Team were definitely highlights of my time at King’s. One of my proudest achievements was winning the Martin Doyle Challenge for my House alongside Harriet. Having watched my older brother complete it five years earlier, I was inspired to try. Although demanding, the experience left me with a deep sense of pride and community. I was also lucky enough to represent King’s in Model United Nations (MUN)."
When asked what she will miss most about King's, Ruby said: "The sense of community! Friendships were not limited to year groups. I will also miss my Politics lessons, especially the pep talks from Mr Thomas!"
Describing the pastoral support at King's, Ruby said: "King’s goes above and beyond when it comes to pastoral care. Whether it was from the Sixth Form Team, the Wellbeing Team, or my Housemistress, I always felt supported. The individual care, strong teacher-student relationships, and commitment to wellbeing are qualities I believe I would not have found elsewhere."
Congratulations Ruby - enjoy Oxford and keep in touch!
