Olivia achieved the A-Level grades that she needed to study Liberal Arts and Politics at the University of Exeter.

Olivia joined King's Ely Sixth Form in Year 12 from an independent school in Cambridge.

Olivia studied Politics, Geography, and Business Studies for her A-Levels.

We caught up with Olivia after she received her A-Level results to find out more about her King's experience and what her next steps are...

Olivia, what career path do you plan on pursuing?

During my year in industry as part of my degree, I plan on working for a large corporate company in London, and to eventually one day run my own successful business.

What is the quality and style of teaching like at King’s?

My teachers were all very accommodating with their teaching styles. Teachers at King's have a good rapport with pupils and mine were very encouraging and supportive, especially when approaching A-Levels in the Summer Term of Year 13. The Politics Department held Teams calls at the weekends before our exams to go over any questions or worries that we had. They also held revision sessions during study leave, alongside the Geography Department, which helped me immensely. I cannot thank my Geography and Politics Teachers enough for all of the help and support they gave me.

What else did you participate in during your time at King’s?

It was such a privilege to be a Sports Scholar during my two years at King's. I participated in Hockey, Football, and Cricket. Sport was definitely a highlight, especially Girls' Cricket. Cricket is my main sport and it was an honour to be part of a group of girls who wanted to improve and develop their game. I enjoyed Captaining the 1st Team in several games in Year 12 and Co-Captaining in Year 13. Mr Jordan allowed me to develop my leadership skills. I was honoured to be named Player of the Year in both Year 12 and Year 13, and I look forward to returning to King's for the annual Old Eleans' Cricket Match.

Do you feel that you have been well supported pastorally at King’s?

I was very well supported by several members of staff at King's, especially as being Dyslexic made my learning journey more challenging than others. Mrs Jackson, Mr Thomas, Ms Kyndt, and Miss Keen were exceptional. They always had faith in my abilities, which helped me to achieve the best grades needed to get into the University Of Exeter.

What will you miss most about King’s and what did you enjoy most during your time here?

I will miss the community feel and the school socials, including Mrs Halls' "no pre-loading” emails! The highlight of my time at King's was representing and Captaining the 1st XI Girls' Cricket Team. Most of all though, I will miss my friends and the teachers who encouraged and nurtured me.

In what ways do you think King’s is unique or special compared to other schools?

King's is unique as every child is different and the school encourages pupils to follow their individual goals and aspirations, all within its happy, caring environment.
