Congratulations to King’s Ely Prep pupil, Poppy, who was victorious in the Ely Runners Cross Country Championships!

Poppy, who many of you will know adores her cross country running, won the trophy for first age-graded female in the competition, which took place in Ely’s Cherry Hill Park, just a stone’s throw from school, on Sunday, February 18th.

On the Saturday, Poppy also represented Cambridgeshire at the Sportshall Eastern Regional Finals, which took place at the UEA Sportspark in Norwich.

Sportshall Finals are indoor multi-event competitions to help budding athletes develop athletics-based skills. After winning two events in the county selection rounds before Christmas, Poppy was chosen to represent Cambridgeshire in triple jump, speed bounce, and two relays!

This action-packed weekend came just a few weeks after Poppy placed 3rd in the Under 11 Girls race at the Cambridgeshire Cross Country Championships in January.

Fantastic achievements, Poppy. Good luck for the Regional Prep Schools Cross Country Championships with our school team in March!
