We were thrilled to welcome Lucy Frazer MP to our School Council Elections at King’s Ely Acremont Pre-Prep this morning (Friday, January 26th).

Ms Frazer, who is Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and MP for South East Cambridgeshire, joined children in our pop-up polling station (Mrs Lever’s office!) as they made their final votes.

Mrs Faye Fenton-Stone, who is Head of Acremont Pre-Prep, said: “Overseeing the process, talking to our voters and candidates, Ms Frazer warmly congratulated and offered encouragement to the children. It was wonderful to connect small ideas to the bigger picture and demonstrate that it is from such small ideas, backed by passion and conviction, that we can be ambitious and creative with our thinking.”

Before the voting this morning, each of our Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 classes were given a presentation by the hopeful candidates, based on their prepared manifestoes. Congratulations to everyone who stood for election. As ever, there were so many fabulous pledges and ideas!

We are delighted to announce that our School Councillors for this term are:

Reception: Arabella C, Katherine P-T, Edward L, and Elizabeth O
Year 1: Felix F, Abigail J, Slanya P, and Fritha S
Year 2: Harry B, Sophie M, Vidia L, and Esther M

Mrs Victoria Walker, who is our School Council Coordinator, will be meeting with our newly-elected School Councillors next week to kick-start their plan of action for the Lent Term. We look forward to hearing more about their ideas and initiatives!
