KING’S Ely has more Maths success to report!

Earlier this month, 122 King’s Ely students took part in the Intermediate Maths Challenge, a competition which attracts over 200,000 pupils from across the UK.

King’s Ely students achieved an impressive 18 Gold, 29 Silver and 24 Bronze awards! Three students also qualified for the Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad and 14 pupils have qualified for the European Kangaroo paper.

King’s Ely Senior’s top scorers were Year 9 student Ben Collier, Year 10 student Eleanor MacGillivray and Year 11 student Thomas Kim.

The Intermediate Maths Challenge is designed for students in Years 9 to 11, but King’s Ely also entered a few pupils from Year 8.

Year 8 pupil John Lau obtained the third best score in the whole school, and pupils Raphael Bisson and James MacGillivray, also in Year 8 both obtained Gold certificates.

The follow-on rounds are taking place next month and Eleanor, John and Raphael will compete in the Olympiad paper. James will compete in the Kangaroo paper.

Ben, John, James and Elliot Bord (who has also qualified for the Kangaroo round) will represent King’s Ely in the annual Junior Team Maths Challenge in March.

We wish all our Mathematicians the best of luck for the follow-on rounds!
