A NUMBER of King’s Ely Junior and Senior athletes attended the Country Clubs Athletics Championships in Peterborough on May 12th.

King’s Ely Senior student Ben Marshall won Gold medals in the triple jump and hurdles; Katie Cameron won a Silver in the high jump; and Billy McGrath won a Silver in the discus.

King’s Ely Junior pupil Thomas Bateman gained a personal best in the triple jump, as did Connor Marshall in the 300m. George Nearney made it through to both the 100m and 200m finals on the day and Bertie Whymark secured a Bronze medal after throwing an impressive 18.43 metres.

Director of Sport at King’s Ely, Jim Thompson, said: “This was a high quality competition so to pick up as many medals as we did was very pleasing. A huge well done to all the athletes for their efforts.”
