Lottie to study Classical Studies at University of Exeter

August 2025

Lottie will be studying Classical Studies at the University of Exeter after achieving the A-Level grades she needed.

Lottie joined King's Ely Prep in Year 3. She studied English Literature, Spanish, and Textiles at A-Level.

When asked what she plans to do career wise, Lottie said: "I plan on pursuing a career in writing and journalism in the creative industry."

To describe King's in three words, Lottie chose "welcoming, inclusive, nurturing".

When asked how well supported she felt during her time at King's, Lottie said: "Throughout my ten years at King’s, I felt extremely well supported by so many teachers and staff. I feel as though I got on very well with all of my teachers, especially in Sixth Form. My Form Tutor, Dr Ost, was incredibly supportive. I feel very lucky to have been at a school where the pastoral care is so amazing. As someone who deals with anxiety on a daily basis, my teachers, Housemistress, Head of Sixth Form, the Wellbeing Team, and the Medical Centre Team were all wonderful. I am beyond grateful for all of the support I received during my time at King’s!"

Describing the teaching and learning environment at King's, Lottie said: "The teaching at King’s is great, and I feel that my creativity was really nurtured. I loved being in the Textiles Department and experimenting with all of the different fabrics and machinery it has to offer. Making my final two garments for the A-Level syllabus was, although challenging, very satisfying because I got to express my creativity and show off all the skills I had learnt. I am very proud of my final garments, and I will never forget the support from all the Textiles Teachers. I also found my love for English Literature in choosing to study it at A-Level. The lessons were always extremely interesting, and I enjoyed being able to express my creativity further in writing analytical essays. I have learnt so much from taking English as a subject, and I am extremely grateful for all that it has taught me."

Outside the classroom, Lottie was proud to be appointed Co-Deputy Head of Torfrida House, and to have achieved a Textiles Sixth Form Scholarship. She also enjoyed representing the school in Netball and Cricket.

When asked what she will miss most about King's, Lottie said: "I will miss being surrounded by all my friends, the Sixth Form socials, and the amazing quality of teaching."

Congratulations Lottie - enjoy Exeter and keep in touch!
