CONGRATULATIONS to King’s Ely students, Ally Bowerman and Mimi Hughes, who have been awarded places at two prestigious junior music conservatoires.

Ally and Mimi are both in Year 12 and are Sixth Form Ely Cathedral Choral Scholars here at King’s.

Mimi is visiting the Junior Royal Academy of Music every Saturday to study Voice.

Ally is visiting the Junior Guildhall School of Music & Drama every Saturday to also study Voice.

The talented duo join Year 10 student, Polly Casey, who, as we reported in April, is studying both the Recorder and French Horn at the Junior Royal College of Music.

Neil Porter-Thaw, our Director of Music, said: “The audition processes for these junior conservatoires are fiercely competitive and rigorous, so to have three King’s students at three different establishments is a fantastic achievement. No doubt our younger students will benefit from Mimi, Ally and Polly’s stories as many more King’s musicians are looking to follow suit.”
