A group of our Senior International students who are all working towards their ‘Language Leader Award’ popped over to King’s Ely Acremont Nursery and Pre-Prep this week!

The twenty-strong team visited Acremont House with Miss Franklin, who is our Head of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), on November 21st to meet children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1, and Year 2.

Working in small groups, the students taught our youngest Eleans some fascinating facts about their home countries, and some key phrases in their languages, such as “hello” and what different animals are called.

Countries represented included Ukraine, Hong Kong, Uzbekistan, Peru, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Germany, South Korea, and Vietnam.

The ‘Language Leader Award’ teaches Senior students leadership skills, using language as the medium. Throughout the programme, they develop their leadership skills, reflecting and growing in confidence while enhancing their generic, transferable skills. They also act as ambassadors for languages in their schools.

Our Language Leaders were fantastic. Their presentations were informative and fun, which ensured the Nursery and Pre-Prep children were really engaged!
