KING’S Ely’s very own Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and British Tennis Coaches Association (BTCA) qualified tennis coach, Sebastien Scaux, was the recipient of the prestigious award of Cambridgeshire Tennis Coach of the Year for 2015 at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, last week.

Sebastien was recognised for his efforts in growing tennis participation at Ely Tennis Club, where he has worked tirelessly to teach his players the technical and tactical fundamentals of the game. He is working on developing new coaches and growing an already busy tennis program.

“I am thankful to the LTA and Ely Tennis Club who have been supporting me.” said Sebastien. He also added: “This has come as a surprise to me. My true award though, is to see more people playing the sport that I love, to see the children leave the courts happy and to know that they have worked hard and yet enjoyed the lesson.”

Sebastien has also been selected as one of 1,000 Davis Cup Legacy Coaches to deliver free tuition to inspire the next generation of Cambridgeshire tennis players. As part of the scheme, Sebastien will be trained by top mentors from across the nation and then be part of a team which will be delivering free six-week coaching courses to children aged five to nine-years old. He will be running a multisport camp at King’s Ely during the Easter holidays and will also continue his after school tennis clubs at the school during the Summer Term.

10is Academy offers lessons at Ely Tennis Club from toddlers to Senior players. As part of their partnership with 10is Academy, Ely Tennis Club Junior membership comes with five free lessons.
