CONGRATULATIONS to King’s Ely Sixth Form student, India Thomas, for completing her first half marathon – the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon – on March 8th.

After training really hard over the last few months – often in gruelling weather conditions – India put in a very impressive performance, finishing in 1 hour and 56 minutes, placing her in the top half of the 47 junior runners.

Alison Stewart, Year 12 Academic Coordinator and Teacher of Biology, also took on the 21km course and crossed the finish line in 1 hour and 30 minutes – missing out on a PB by just 20 seconds. Mrs Stewart placed 44th in a field of over 4,500 female runners.

Tara Warren, a member of the Old Palace Catering Team, ran the half marathon for the second year running and got a PB with a time of 1 hour and 58 minutes. Phil Curtis, a member of the school’s Grounds and Gardens Team, who is a regular half marathon runner, also took on the course.

Well done team!
