TWENTY-THREE King’s Ely staff members – one mission – to run and/or walk as far as they can this month in aid of the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity!

The intrepid team – the ‘King’s Ely Runners’ – are taking on Run Everyone 2021 – a virtual challenge launched by the people behind the Cambridge Half Marathon.

Throughout March, our team will be running or walking as far as they can to raise as much money as they can for Arthur Rank. The hospice supports people living in Cambridgeshire with an advanced serious illness or a life-limiting condition – and those in need of end-of-life care.

Although the King’s Ely Runners are not taking part to win, they are doing pretty well. At the time of writing this post, they are tenth on the leader board, having already clocked up 1,300.2 kilometres!

Helen Melville, one of the runners, said: “Some of us have set running targets for mileage over the month, with a number aiming for over 100 miles, others are novice runners who are keen to contribute what they can to the challenge and the fundraising. As we always are as a school, this challenge is inclusive and everyone is supporting each other to do their best and meet their goals.

“We hope that you will recognise our efforts and support us by making a donation to our chosen charity. It would mean a great deal to us and make a huge difference to the families who need Arthur Rank Hospice’s valuable services.”
