KING’S Ely Sixth Form student, Namo Sajarattanachote, has achieved great success in a prestigious fashion competition – RECO Young Designer 2020.

Sponsored by Indorama Ventures PCL, RECO is the largest upcycling design competition in Thailand, which aims to raise awareness on using PET and polyester waste to create brilliant and inspiring designs. RECO also aims to demonstrate new skills, and it comes as a surprise to many that these designs are created from waste materials.

From hundreds and sometimes thousands of entries, Indorama Ventures selects 30 shortlisted candidates to attend eco-design workshops led by professionals in the design industry, providing skills and knowledge for practical execution. 10 finalists then use this knowledge to produce their upcycled-design collection to show at the final event.

We are delighted to say that Namo, who is in Year 13 at King’s Ely, has made the final 10 with his stunning designs – all submitted online this year. He will now be showcasing his creations at a runway show over the forthcoming weeks.

Congratulations Namo and best of luck for the next stage – what an achievement!
