King’s Ely Senior buzzes with activity, from early morning until long after the timetabled school day has finished. Students begin to arrive soon after 08:00 but should arrive no later than 08:20 in order that preparations can be made for lessons. The school day begins with a cathedral service, assembly, House assembly or tutorial. Each morning and afternoon contains lessons, sport or activities until 16:30. Lunchtimes are flexible to allow children to attend lunch-time activities.

There are no formal lessons on a Saturday but pupils are expected to represent the school in sporting fixtures, to be involved in rehearsals for productions and concerts, to help at Open Events and to attend trips.
