KING’S Ely Senior’s Year 10 Geography students enjoyed a trip to Preston Montford Field Studies Centre in Shrewsbury just before the end of term.

On the first day, the young geographers completed an urban study of Birmingham, where they looked at the regeneration of the city and in particular, new transport systems and the pedestrianization of the city centre. Students asked local people for their opinions on the changes and then analysed the results of their questionnaires.

On the second day, students travelled to the scenic Long Mynd – Cardingmill Valley, where they completed a river study to investigate the changes in size, shape and velocity in the river as it flows down the valley.
