A GROUP of Year 10 students could be found canoeing on the River Stour in the Flatford Mill area on October 14th.

Assistant Director of Outdoor Education at King’s Ely Senior, Martin Bray, said: “Despite the rest of the UK seemingly rained out, the area around The Stour remained dry for the majority of the day with even a bit of sun peeking through the clouds!

“Our student pairs learned how to efficiently paddle their canoes in tandem as well as practicing how to launch and land their canoes without getting their feet wet. The team paddled a total of 14km along the tranquil and picturesque lower section of the river from Stratford St Mary all the way to the tidal point at Cattawade.

“We had a thoroughly enjoyable day on the water. Thank you to Sam Browning for his assistance and coaching during the trip.”
