KING’S Ely’s Rowing season got underway at the weekend with students competing at the Pairs Head in London and the St Neots Small Boats Head.

Years 11-13 students raced in the Pairs Head on October 6th and Year 10 rowers competed in St Neots on October 7th.

Conditions on the Saturday were tough with high winds and bitter temperatures, but the results were encouraging. Alex Millard and Will White produced 6th place in the Under 18 Championship Quads and the Doubles of Holly Lancaster, Holly Burke, Lucy Whiteside and Rahera Greatrex also produced good results.

The conditions were much kinder on the Sunday and the St Neots races were a great learning opportunity for the Year 10 group as it was their first ever distance head race taking place over 2,600m.

The Boys’ Quad of Edward Moss, Henry Bullivant, Conall Comley, Samuel Martin and Henry Buckingham had a solid row and won their category. The Girls’ Quad of Olivia Thomas, Georgina Schosland, Indra Salgado, Isabella Boutwood and Cherry Brown also won their category.

A very productive start to the school’s Rowing season!
