IT was another action-packed weekend for King’s Ely Boat Club!

On November 20th, Year 13 student, Will Buckingham, who is our Captain of Boats, raced over 5km at Boston in Lincolnshire for the first in a series of on-water trials for the British Rowing U19 Team. Will gained valuable experience on a cold and rather unforgiving day to finish 102nd out of 130 crews. Well done Will!

On November 21st, all of our Year 10-13 Rowers headed to Star Club Rowing in Bedford to compete over 1.8km across five divisions of racing.

Huge well done to Mia Gray and Annie Moore, who won the WJ18 Double Sculls; Conall Comley and Will Buckingham, who narrowly finished 2nd in the J18 Double Sculls; and our Year 10 Boy and Girl Quads, who finished 4th and 6th in large categories.

Craig Ward, our Head of Rowing, said: “I’d also like to praise our Year 11 students, who took to the course in singles, some for the first time. It takes a lot of courage to race a single and our Year 11s can be very proud of their performances! Our next race is another trip to Bedford on Sunday 5th December.”
