TWENTY seven King’s Ely rowers from Years 9-13 travelled to Dorney Lake on April 28th to compete in the Oarsport Junior Sculling Regatta.

Our Senior Girls’ Double of Alice Dickens and Rahera Greatrex left school at 4.55am and showed no signs of fatigue as they recorded a 12th out of 25 place finish – a fine result in a very competitive category.

The Year 10 squad continued their development, managing to successfully qualify in the J15 quad and Girls J15 double, putting in solid rows in the process.

The highlight of the day proved to be our Year 9 rowers! They showed incredible maturity and focus in what was, for some, their first ever multi-lane race experience.

Thomas Allen, Gabriel James, Ben Kittoe, Alexander Hooper and Moel Tunstall Richards produced an outstanding row to finish 3rd in their final (9th out of 26 overall) and were closely followed by the second boys’ quad.

Well done all and good luck for your races at Norwich School and Dorney Lake this weekend!
