Kudos to all our Rowing students for their achievements and efforts at Huntingdon Boat Club’s ‘Head of River’ competition on October 16th.

Thirty-one students in Years 10-13 represented King’s in the event, which was our first head race of the year.

The Year 10 squads raced well over the 2,000-metre mini head course, achieving some impressive results, including Clara Torlesse, who won the women’s J15 single sculls category.

The longer 3.4-kilometre route proved tricky for our Senior Rowers, particularly with its winding course, however plenty was gained from the experience, including category wins in the following:

J18 4x- (Will Biggs, Raphael Bisson, Aron O’Connor, Yanki Ertem)
J18 2x (Will Biggs, Raphael Bisson)
WJ18 4x (Mollie Chamberlain, Mary Garrod, Paula Heinemann, Xenia Marshall)
WJ18 2x (Mollie Chamberlain, Xenia Marshall)
J16 1x (John Standley)

Craig Ward, our Head of Rowing, said: “It was a great day’s racing. Well done to everyone who rowed and thank you to the many parents who came along to support – it was fantastic to have you there. Our next competition is the Star Autumn Head in Bedford on November 20th.”
