SEVEN King’s Ely Photography students have been shortlisted in two major competitions!

We are thrilled to announce that Freya Moss (Year 12), Gabriel James (Year 12), Lucas Edevane (Year 13), Emily Gredley (Year 13) and Arabella Guyer (Year 11), have had their work shortlisted in the finals of this year’s ‘Beyond the Frame Photography Competition’, organised by Norwich University of the Arts.

We can also confirm that Elly Hakansson-Harvey (Year 10) and Mohan (Susan) Liu (Year 12) have been shortlisted in this year’s ILFORD PHOTO Student Competition.

The theme of this year’s Beyond the Frame Photography Competition was ‘curiosity’ and there were more than 500 entries from young photographers from across the globe.

The theme of the 2022 ILFORD PHOTO Student Competition was ‘natural light’. GCSE and A Level students were challenged to photograph using ILFORD PHOTO or Kentmere black and white film, and to then print an image in the darkroom which related to the theme.

The 2021 ILFORD PHOTO Student Competition was won by Lucas Edevane, who secured a victory for King’s for the fourth consecutive year. Fingers crossed Elly or Susan will make it a fifth!

Last year’s Beyond the Frame Photography Competition saw King’s Ely students, Ivana Peat and Francesca Stevens, achieving success. Emily Parsons won the title in 2020 and Gaia Giardinelli won in 2018.

Freya, Gabriel, Lucas, Emily and Arabella have been invited to attend an event at Norwich University of the Arts on April 7th, where they will not only find out who the winner is, but they will also get to meet other young photographers and learn more about different skills and careers in photography.

Congratulations to all seven students who have been shortlisted and to our Head of Photography, Antonio Longo. Good luck team!
