THREE sisters have raised almost £6,000 for a cause close to their heart by waving goodbye to their long locks.
Siblings Charlotte, Florence and Winnie Henderson, who are all pupils at King’s Ely Junior, had their long hair cut off into stylish bobs on July 3rd to raise as much money as they could for Cancer Research UK.
The charity is not only a cause close to the girls’ hearts but it is also King’s Ely Junior’s charity of the year. To date, Charlotte, 10, and twins Florence and Winnie, aged 8, have raised more than £5,700 in sponsorship, and a cake sale was held in school to help top up additional funds.
Not satisfied with simply raising funds, the girls are also donating their hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real hair wigs free of charge to boys and girls across the UK who have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment.
Head of King’s Ely Junior, Richard Whymark, said: “With the work of our charity this year benefitting many of our community, it was wonderful that the girls lent their support to the cause in this way. They appreciate the importance of the work this charity does and felt moved to help. We applaud their spirit!”
