YEAR 3 King’s Ely Junior pupils took a step back in time on May 1st when they were evacuated to North Norfolk Railway via the Poppy Line Steam Train.

Pupils got to experience an air raid, made themselves useful in the Railway Cottage and Gardens and took part in identification activities with the Observer Corps.

Lunch, which the children prepared themselves, went down very well after their morning chores. The day was rounded-off with a sing-a-long and a drill practice before lowering the flag and returning to the present day.

Year 3 Teacher, Kate Furness, said: “Staff at the centre commended the children on their excellent participation and behaviour. The journey home was filled with excitement from the day’s events!”
