AS part of their ‘Clip and Climb’ mountain theme, 47 intrepid Year 5 King’s Ely Junior pupils and six members of staff went to climb their closest ‘mountainous’ area before half term.

Standing at an impressive 300m high, the Dunstable Downs, specifically the Five Knolls, were where they set their climbing sights.

A member of staff who accompanied the students said: “On a beautiful day, the children’s spirits were high as we set off on our ascent to the summit. The walk took just over three hours and took in the highs and lows of the surrounding area.

“Contours were discussed (and experienced!) and resilience was tested too. It was a fantastic experience which really brought our classroom studies to life.”
