YEAR 7 King’s Ely Junior pupils visited the Beth Shalom Reform Synagogue and the C3 Church in Cambridge just before half term.

The year group have been studying Judaism in Religious Studies and the trip enabled students to learn more about a synagogue and its features, as well as how the Jewish community worships.

Linda Hill, Head of Religious Studies at King’s Ely Junior, said: “We got to see and hear the Torah being read in Hebrew and learnt more about the important festivals in Judaism.

“Our next topic will be Christianity and the visit to The C3 Church enabled our students to see a very modern church in operation and learn more about how they work hard in the local community, particularly for people who are struggling financially.

“When we went through the coffee bar, we could observe the social work being carried out by the church’s volunteers. We also learnt more about the foodbank that operates there.”
