A GROUP of Year 10 King’s Ely International (KEI) Geography students visited Walton-on-the-Naze in Essex to experience their first taste of Geography fieldwork techniques.

The students used theodolites to measure the beach gradient, quadrats to estimate sediment ratios and plastic tubes to compare infiltration rates along the coast during their trip on May 8th.

Teacher of ESOL and Geography at King’s Ely International, Kate Mathews, said: “The fine weather and the students’ focus and application during the day made this an extremely rewarding and adventurous learning experience. For those taking Geography at iGCSE, the day will prove a valuable resource next year but for everybody involved it was a successful experience of careful, creative and curious learning.”
