MEMBERS of the King’s Ely Climbing Club put their Level 2 skills to good practice in Holyhead Mountain and Snowdonia.

The trip over the weekend of May 18th-20th saw students Tom Biggs, Ben Biggs, Jamie Layfield, Alex Scarborough, David Harris, Harry Oliver-Towers and Jake Clifton enjoying spectacular views and stunning scenery whilst they worked to consolidate their Level 2 skills.

Saturday saw the group enjoying a quiet crag at Holyhead Mountain, learning to place gear on the quartzite rock and overcoming some interesting difficulties on some of the more esoteric routes (involving squeezing through some narrow rock formations). Sunday was spent at the Ricks and Racks outside Plas-y-Brenin, consolidating belay set ups.

Director of Outdoor Education at King’s Ely Senior, Sophie Cheng, said: “Well done to all the climbers who are progressing well through their climbing skills level. Thank you also to the staff team for their hard work over the weekend, Brett Ffitch and Joe Watson.”
