KING’S Ely was delighted to be a sponsor of this year’s Ely Standard East Cambridgeshire Business Awards.

The Awards Ceremony was held at Ely Cathedral on the evening of September 28th and saw local businesses and their teams from across the district being duly recognised, including the winner of the category King’s Ely sponsored, Small Business of the Year, which was awarded to Gourmet Brownie Ltd.

The school’s all boys’ a cappella group, the King’s Barbers, also performed to guests on the evening. The King’s Barbers have been running for 26 years and earlier this year, they were crowned the winner’s of the National Youth a Cappella Competition.

Members of the King’s Barbers are all former cathedral or college choir choristers and they sing everything from timeless classics to contemporary a cappella songs. The group was founded not only to keep boys singing through the voice-change, but also to introduce them to different performance styles. Former members have sung in some of the most important and successful groups in the a Cappella scene, including All the King’s Men and Out of the Blue.
