CONGRATULATIONS to King’s Ely Junior pupil Heather Norris who completed the Vierdaagse Nijmegen – the annual International Four Days Marches Nijmegen.

Heather and her mum, Morag Botterill, were among tens of thousands of people from across the world who walked 25 miles each day, for four consecutive days, earlier this month (July) in and around the city of Nijmegen in the Netherlands and its beautiful wooded surroundings.

Heather and Morag were raising awareness and money for the Veterans Charity, which was founded in March 2008 to support UK Veterans of all generations.

They both did amazingly, completing the 100 miles with only very tired legs and a few blisters at the end! Heather has so far raised £280 for the charity and enjoyed it so much she wants to do it again next year!

Heather said: “I have a huge passion for History, especially the World Wars, and being a military child all of my life (my mum has just left after serving nearly 17 years in the Army and my step-dad is still currently serving), I have learnt a lot about the struggles veterans face when going back into civilian life.”
