SIXTH Form Art students at King’s Ely were treated to a workshop exploring sculptural embroidery techniques which was delivered by the highly acclaimed textile artist, Diane Bates.

Diane, renowned for her intricate, three-dimensional embroidery and costume design, helped the students to produce beautiful embroidered samples, which they are now further exploring as part of their accessory design ideas.

Director of Art, Alison Rhodes, commented: “Diane has a wealth of knowledge and inspiration to share with our enthusiastic students. She is one of the contacts that we were fortunate to make when exhibiting at Alexandra Palace in October. This was an invaluable opportunity and one that our students explored fully.”
