OUR Senior Instrumental Music Festival kicked off yesterday (January 17th).

Musicians in Years 9-13 will be battling it out most afternoons after school between now and Thursday 10th February, which is when the Festival Final will take place in Ely Cathedral (fingers crossed!).

The Year 12 and 13 Woodwind Class yesterday saw Thomas Apostolou (clarinet), Charlotte Ellis (flute), Charlotte Bradley (recorder), Lauren Peck (saxophone and clarinet) and Jess Harding (alto saxophone) performing in the Recital Hall.

Despite us not being able to host an audience at any of the performances due to the current circumstances, the students were on fantastic form performing to our Director of Music, Neil Porter-Thaw, and Head of Academic Music, Helen Briggs. Music Department staff members will judge the classes throughout the competition.

Charlotte Bradley was highly commended and Lauren Peck was declared the winner for her skills on the saxophone.

Well done all and good luck to everyone performing over the coming days! For regular updates, follow King’s Ely on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn…
