YEAR 13 leaver, Ilaria Dimina, is off to the University of Nottingham after achieving the A Level grades she needed this summer.

We had a quick catch-up with Ilaria before she starts her new adventure:

Ilaria, in which year group did you join King’s Ely?

“I joined King’s in Year 11 and was in the international programme, King’s Ely International. I then decided to stay at King’s for Sixth Form after taking my IGCSEs.”

Which University/Institution are you going to and what will you be studying?

“I will be joining the University of Nottingham this September to study Physics and Philosophy, two subjects which I have been very interested in since taking them for my A Levels.”

What career path do you hope to pursue?

“I’m not really sure what career I would like to pursue in the future just yet, but with a degree in Physics and Philosophy I can follow a number of different career paths. I do know that I hope to have a job where I can do something useful for people and society, whether it is through scientific research, education or social work.”

How do you think King’s Ely prepared you for University life?

“Being at King’s has definitely taught me how to live and study independently since, as a boarder, I had to learn how to manage my time and studies effectively, something which I think is essential for University life. With all the support and encouragement of the teachers and staff, I also think that King’s gave me the chance to become a much stronger and more confident person, which made it possible for me to understand what subjects I really loved and wanted to study at University.”

What will you miss most about King’s Ely and what did you enjoy most during your time here?

“What I will miss most about King’s is the strong sense of community that the school has and its unique and diverse environment, which really allowed me to grow and helped me become the person I am today. I think what I enjoyed most during my time at King’s was probably living in a boarding house, together with my friends, which was a really unique experience that I will never forget!”
