KING’S Ely Sixth Form students, Holly Burke and Mia Gray, have qualified for the second phase of the GB Rowing Trials.

After a busy half term training block, our Sixth Form Rowers completed a 2,000m test at rate 24 just before the second lockdown came into force.

The 2,000m test is the first phase of the GB Rowing Trials selection process. Holly and Mia produced strong scores to make the required cut-off, which is a huge achievement given the restrictions that have been in place for most of the year.

Year 12 students Annie Moore, Conall Comley, Stephanie Watson and Will Buckingham also produced solid results which Mr Ward, our Head of Rowing, say bode well for next year’s trials.

Holly and Mia are now training for the next phase of the process – a 5,000m ergometer test in December.

Good luck girls!
