THANK you to everyone who supported our ‘Virtual Higher Education Conference’ on May 22nd.

The event, organised by our Director of Higher Education and Graduate Careers, Gill Smith, saw Year 12 students and their parents/guardians hearing about everything from personal statements to student finance.

Gordon Chesterman, former Director of the Careers Service at the University of Cambridge, Fellow and Tutor of St Edmund’s College, and Deputy Senior Proctor of the University of Cambridge, spoke about ‘Subject, University and Career Choices in the 21st Century’.

Lucy Nottingham, Advisor for the University of East Anglia (UEA), talked about ‘Student Finance’ and ‘Making a competitive application to UK Universities: UCAS process and the writing of Personal Statements’.

Susan Haines, Admissions Tutor at Murray Edwards College Cambridge, spoke about ‘Making competitive applications to Oxbridge and what we look for at interview’.

The transition to higher education and graduate careers is, for almost all of our students, the vital next step after school. Sixth Formers at King’s Ely have consistently secured a place at their first choice university over many years, with a large number going to Russell Group Universities each year.
