KING’S Ely student and member of The Girl Choristers of Ely Cathedral Choir, Hannah Williams, is making and sending out her ‘Smiles and Self-care Packages’ again now that we are in a second lockdown.

Hannah, who lives in Ely and who is in Year 9 at King’s Ely Senior, came up with the idea of the packages in July to offer a little support to people who may be struggling with their mental health.

Hannah’s packages contain a variety of items, including activities like word searches and crosswords, lip balm and hand cream, plasters, disinfectant wipes and alternatives to self-harm, a seashell from the beach, hand-made fabric bags containing beads to make a bracelet, and flower seeds with soil and a small plant pot.

The packages are free and can be ordered for yourself or for someone you know who may be struggling.

Hannah’s mum, Amanda, pictured here with her, supplied the funds to get her initiative off the ground and Hannah is now hoping to secure donations in order to continue sending out the packages to those in need. You can donate at: paypal.me/smilepackages

Hannah has also set up Facebook and Instagram pages for her packages: www.facebook.com/smilepackagess/ (note the extra ‘s’ at the end!) and www.instagram.com/smile.packages

What a fantastic idea Hannah – keep up the good work!
